Eco Architecture – Living in the Stone Age.

As the contemporary design aesthetic continues to dominate modern day architecture, there is something so striking about a house that looks like it was constructed in the stone ages.
Nestled into the Fafe Mountians in Portugal is a house design that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings while offering all the comforts of home. Casa do Penedo, or “the House of Stone,” is a two story home built between four large boulders and sealed together with a concrete mix. Although the house looks prehistoric, it offers traditional features such as windows, a front door and a shingled roof along with the extra amenities of a fire place and swimming pool carved out of one of the large rocks.

  1. I would love to have some weeks to try out living in there – the landscape of this part of Portugal is beautiful to me and matching with this house so well.
